Located in the center of Topsail Island in Pender and Onslow counties, this relaxed beach town is an ideal location for those seeking a vacation destination, retirement spot, or just the next place to call “home.”
Intracoastal Realty is proud to offer a wide array of absolutely gorgeous waterfront and inland homes in Surf City, including large, multi-level homes for family getaways, available lots for your dream house waiting to be realized, or the perfect house for your next permanent dwelling. We also offer options for those seeking commercial real estate in high-traffic areas of the city.
Surf City, as tends to be the case with most beachside cities, offers numerous opportunities to partake in watersports. With over six miles of beaches (the entire Topsail Island has 26 miles of beaches!) and an excellent parks and recreation system, locals have ample outlets to choose from for canoeing, swimming, hiking, biking and, of course, fishing. Surf City Ocean Pier, which is 937 feet long with a 40-foot octagon at its end, is just one such spot that locals can fish from. It offers two large fish-cleaning stations, lights for all-night fishing, a fully-stocked tackle shop, the Surf City Pier Grill and more, making it a veritable fisherman’s dream.
In keeping with the city’s motto, “Big enough to be competitive, but small enough to be happy,” Surf City maintains a small-town feel, but with more amenities within and nearby. Within the town, residents have access to plenty of shopping, restaurants and entertainment, as well as being located near two other bustling coastal cities, Wilmington and Jacksonville. In fact, it sits about equidistant from both cities, with Jacksonville approximately 25 miles to the north and Wilmington 25 miles to the south.
Surf City is also home to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center and the Missiles and More Museum, for outings that are both entertaining and educational. The surrounding area is also host to numerous annual festivals, such as the Autumn with Topsail Festival, the Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival, the Dolphin Dip and several fishing tournaments.
Children of Surf City residents will attend either Pender County Schools or Onslow County Schools depending on which section of Surf City they reside.
In addition to offering K-12 education, Surf City also possesses multiple venues for higher education. Located in Surf City is the Alston W. Burke Center branch of Cape Fear Community College, the sixth largest community college in the state. CFCC offers a variety of technical degree programs with impressive rates of job placement after graduation. The main campus is located in neighboring Wilmington’s downtown.
