Together in Education: Teacher’s Fund

2011-8-Harris Teeter logo_tie_large_tm

It’s that time of year, school is back in session! The Teacher’s Fund is getting back in full swing and can use your help. It’s easy to support the Teacher’s Fund with Harris Teeter’s Together in Education.

Link your Harris Teeter VIC card to the Teacher’s Fund- the code is 6477.

Don’t forget ALL VIC cards need to be RE-LINKED for the 2011-2012 school year. Linking is easy to do with one of the following methods and has to be done each school year, starting August 1.

The money goes towards helping local public and private kindergarten through 5th grade school teachers buy the supplies and books they so desperately need. You can learn more about Intracoastal’s Teacher’s Fund on our website and by visiting the Teacher’s Fund facebook page.

  • Dad taught to her to water ski at 5 years old.

Intracoastal Realty Mystery Agent

Each week at our sales meeting we have a “Mystery Agent.”  This gives us a chance to learn more about one of our colleagues that we may not have known otherwise.

  • This agent grew up in a one-stop-sign town on the east coast.
  • An honor student, this agent was the President of the Beta Club, the local elementary school’s honor society.
  • Continuing the high grades throughout college, this agent attended only 4 classes of a personal finance course and still made a B.  Since the professor had not met this agent, he chased the agent down the hall to meet her after the final exam.
  •  This agent might be found selling Levis at Paynes Department Store rather than in class at UNCW.
  •  Picture this agent as a mermaid for a TV commercial.  Her only words were:  “There are no fishy deals at Cape Fear Toyota.”
  • Runner up to Miss Beulaville, this beauty pageant contestant learned to scuba dive before learning to swim.
  • While at the altar during her best friend’s wedding, her parasol caught fire from the candles— another show stopper in this agent’s life!
  • Ever seen Michael Jordan on the Wheaties box?  Guess who is behind him?  This agent!
  • July 1 marked her 13th birthday!  This agent flat-lined in 1998, the year she won IRC’s first and only True Grit award for surviving a heart attack, surgery and then breast cancer…all the same year.
  •   During the last 13 years of her “new” life, this agent has earned numerous awards and been elected to many officer positions, including President of WRAR Board of Directors!

Creating Curb Appeal

Intracoastal Agent Pam Kersting on Creating Curb Appeal…

Some say that nothing sells a home like clean. That may be true, but nothing attracts prospective buyers more than a front yard with great curb appeal. Home sellers often pay great attention to the condition of their home before putting it on the market. Many go to great lengths to stage it perfectly so that it appears roomy, inviting and desirable. All too often however, they fail to address the outside of the home, without realizing that the front yard of the home is often times the very first thing prospective buyers see. And in the real estate world, first impressions count!

Just as the inside of the home should be pleasing and well kept, so should the outside. You want to give the appearance of a yard well loved. Grass should be mowed and edged. If there are any bare spots, sod can be laid down to easily correct this. Colorful flowers should beckon prospective buyers to the front door. Trees should be limbed up so that the home is clearly visible from the street. Foundation plantings around the home should be manicured and clipped so that they are at least six inches beneath the bottom of the windows and the driveway and walks should be free and clear of debris. Finally, all bedding areas must receive a fresh layer of mulch or pine straw.

The end result is a clean, beautiful setting for a desirable home. With a little effort and very small investment, resourceful Sellers can create a home with great curb appeal, attracting many prospective buyers into their home. And the more prospective buyers that see the home, the quicker it will sell.

**In addition to being a real estate agent, Pam is also a Landscape Architect. The July edition of Wrightsville Beach Magazine has an article by Pam with several homes around our area with beautiful curb appeal. Pick up a copy or view her Charming Gardens article online:
