This is a busy weekend for the Wilmington area! Loads of people will be coming into town to celebrate the Fourth of July. And why not! We love living here and can understand why others want to come and enjoy our beaches and activities too.
Wilmington was featured in the July/August edition of Coastal Living magazine as one of the top 10 places to enjoy the 4th of July. Coastal Living selected cities based on the activities provided before and after the show as well as the big firework display. This is quite a compliment- other hotspots like San Francisco, Honolulu, Chicago and Jekyll Island are also featured. The firework show over the battleship is one of the largest in our region and attracts all ages. The Battleship Blast starts at 9 leaving plenty of time to enjoy historic downtown Wilmington before and after the performance. The Riverfront celebration will be in full swing from 5-10.
Other Independence Day events around the area include:
The North Carolina 4th of July Festival in Southport and Oak Island start the celebrations on Thursday and keep them going until Monday. There’s something for everyone to enjoy- from the art show, parade, live bands, contests on the beach to the magical fireworks show. See the calendar of events to select your fun.
The Pleasure Island Independence Day Fireworks are on Saturday night, July 3rd at 9pm.
Bald Head Island has a golf cart parade at 10am Sunday and a fireworks cruise Monday July 5th at 8pm.
Topsail Island has much to do as well. See the calendar for info about the 27th annual Freedom Festival and the fireworks show going on this weekend.
What a great time to celebrate our nation while enjoying southeastern North Carolina! Please have fun and be safe.
