Social Media: How Important is it?

Intracoastal’s Technology Day – “Technology Works Spring 2010” – is under way today. Our training and conference rooms have turned into classrooms to learn about technology related subjects with emphasis on Social Media. This all day event features our own esteemed agents as the instructors.  Agents have the opportunity to learn more about Facebook, twitter, virtual assistants and more!!

Times have changed from the days of relying solely on newspaper ads and yard signs to sell real estate. It’s now the age of facebook and smart phones. (Did you know that 91% with cell phones have the phone within 3 feet of them 24/7- WOW!) We’re not being left behind- but forging ahead learning about the latest technology to keep our agents on top.

2010-4-Network-DiagramYou may ask, just how important is social media??? Very! This diagram is from Metcalf’s law…the formula is n(n − 1)/2, which is proportional to n2 In Simple terms, Metcalfe says that if you have 1 friend this represents 1 connection. If you have 5 friends this represents 10 connections and if you have 12 friends this represents 66 connections. Do you see the exponential growth in connections as you add friends? Agent’s facebook pages are a great way to promote their listings.

In case you didn’t know…..Facebook has more than 400 million users- 50% of them logging on everyday- spending over 500 billion minutes on Facebook per month! 100 million of these users are accessing Facebook through their mobile devices. More than 25 billion pieces of content (web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photo albums, etc.) are shared each month.

Are you checking our Facebook page?  We invite you to stay connected.

Comparing Doctors with Real Estate Agents?

2010-4-Medical-BagComparing Doctors with Real Estate Agents?

In a brief medical comparison the author of “Bedside Manner or Skilled Hands” made the point that we choose PROFESSIONALS based on results, often by referrals from others who can vouch for the results.

“Why would it be any different when choosing who to work with on the largest financial decision you are likely to make this year (the buying and/or selling a home)?  Of course, we all want real estate agents and loan officers who are both likeable AND competent, but we should be leaning towards knowledge of the market, advice and specific strategies to achieve our objectives.”

In today’s market, whether you are buying or selling, you need a dedicated professional to help you analyze all the information available. Intracoastal Realty is comprised of professionals- likeable agents who know the market and can provide advice that will best suit their client’s needs. Being the local leader in real estate we are proud to say we have the skills and bedside manner!  We are the reason why there is no need to compromise likeability and competence in real estate.
