In 2005, I purchased a condo at Sand Dwellers 1 on the east end of Ocean Isle Beach. I sold the condo last year with the help of my realtor, John Mohr, Broker with Intracoastal. With over 14 years here in OIB I’ve met many people in the community, served on the board of the Sand Dwellers 1 HOA, and volunteered with the OIB Sea Turtle Protection Organization.

I have been a Realtor in Virginia for over 25 years in a dual career capacity. I became friends with my Realtor in my first home purchase and she and her husband recruited me to come work in their office. It was a time when the office was open in the evenings from 6 to 8 pm where we had walk in business, for rentals, buyers and sellers, in a now historic neighborhood with over 17 different floor plans. The experience was excellent because it gave me the opportunity to get to know the business and experience in showing homes. That business was sold to the firm I currently have my real estate license with, Long & Foster Real Estate, where I just had my 25th anniversary.

My dual career is as a Senior Economic Analyst with the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) in the McLean, VA office. I have been with ALPA for over 22 years. My role at ALPA involves working with various pilot groups in contract negotiations of their collective agreements and in financial analysis relating to the airline they are employed with as well as the airline industry globally. Costing models, economic witness in arbitrations, bankruptcy analysis, tracking industry trends, survey preparation are some examples of my work. The work is challenging, ever changing (even more so today with the pandemic crisis), and often overwhelming. The job requires a fair amount of travel so at certain times that has hindered my real estate business. But now I have a new home in Ocean Isle Beach, planning for retirement from ALPA, and looking forward to the next phase of my life.

My interest in real estate stems back to my years in college at George Mason University and helping my father evaluate a business opportunity in purchasing real estate. My degree in Finance has served me well in the real estate business providing me with the skills to assist buyers and sellers in purchasing or selling a home. Educating a buyer, especially a first-time buyer, helping them understand what is involved, running the numbers for a mortgage, reviewing comparable data, understanding the current market conditions, etc., going above and beyond in the process has served me well with many return clients.
I intend to submit my application for license in NC this month. As a provisional broker I look forward to completing the 90 hours post license courses with Intracoastal.
